It was indeed a great day for ATDC SDN BHD when IBTE confirmed and awarded 21 students – 7th Intake of Industrial Skills Qualification for Marker Fitter 29 September 2018 at the IBTE Headquarters in Bandar Seri Begawan.
IBTE Principal, Dr Sheik Luqman and the rest of the IBTE Tender Committee members facilitated the signing of the Contract Agreement. The acceptance was represented by Tuan Hj Abed and Dr Rodman Tan from ATDC Sdn Bhd.
Marker Fitter is a training course that will run for 3 months in the premises of ATDC SDN BHD at Industrial Park Sungai Bera. A Marker Fitter is responsible for setting up, measuring, marking-off, cutting and aligning all pipe work and structural items. Industrial Skills Qualification (ISQ) – Marker Fitter aims to provide students with knowledge and the necessary skills for a marker fitter such as fitting and assembling metal parts through analysis of detailed engineering drawings or specifications.
Some of the roles & responsibilities of a competent Marker Fitter are:
- Read detailed fabrication drawings or specifications to find out job, material and equipment requirements.
- Operate a range of equipment including cutting equipment, heating torches grinding machinery; hydraulic presses; thread cutting machinery and others.
- Mark out the joints to be welded to help welders fit pieces together.
ATDC ensures that these competencies will be achieved within the expected time frame to prepare them to work efficiently and confidently in their respective workplace.
